As Tropical Storm Beryl (Hurricane Beryl update about) gets closer to Houston, a key tool for checking power outages is not working. CenterPoint Energy, the main electricity company in the city, has an Outage Tracker that has been offline since May because of technical problems from a big storm.
CenterPoint plans:
CenterPoint plans to replace the Outage Tracker with a new version by the end of July. This new map will show the same outage information and handle more traffic. Many CenterPoint customers are upset without the outage data. CenterPoint provides power to nearly all people in Harris and Fort Bend counties, and other parts of Greater Houston, with about 2.8 million customers depending on them.
After the storm in May, CenterPoint shared a map with power restoration estimates, but it was four days late.

State Rep. Armando Walle talking:
State Rep. Armando Walle has been talking regularly with CenterPoint about the upcoming storm. He feels good about their plans to restore power and appreciates their communication efforts.
