Power Outage and Restoration

Highway Closures

Rising river levels forced the Minnesota Department of Transportation to close parts of U.S. Highway 169. The highway is closed between Mankato and St. Peter, and also between St. Peter and Le Sueur, with traffic being detoured onto smaller roads.

Bridge Closures

Both Minnesota River bridges at St. Peter are closed due to flooding. Additionally, some on- and off-ramps along Highway 169 in North Mankato are also shut.

State Park Closures

Heavy rains and flooding have affected several state parks in Minnesota. Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park halted underground tours due to flooding and will suspend these tours for at least three weeks.

Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park

Cave tours are on hold due to flooding, but the pedestrian bridge to historic Forestville and the Big Spring trail are open.

Bison and prairie tours are canceled this weekend. Park staff will reassess water levels on Wednesday to decide if tours can resume next weekend.

Trail Damage

There are washouts and damage on the Gitchi Gami and North Shore state trails in northeast Minnesota. The Minnesota Valley State Trail is significantly flooded, and the DNR urges caution on state water trails due to high currents and floating debris.
